MONDAY, 15 February 2016, the President of Malaysian Cricket Association Mr. Mahinda Vallipuram & Dr. Simon Watson, the Principal of Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar officially signed the Memorandum Of Understanding to endorse KTJ as Centre of Excellence under the national cricket development. Also present was the Patron of MCA YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran Ibni Almahrum Tuanku Ja’afar who put down his signature on the MOU as the witness. Mr. Suresh Naidu, the Head of Senior School represented KTJ.

DSC_0771The President in his speech mentioned that the idea of making KTJ as a Centre of Excellence has always been one of his development agenda. He also said that Silver Cricket CC should be lauded for their effort as they initiated the building of the pavilion and laying centre wicket in 1998.

YAM Tunku was really glad that his aim since the establishment of KTJ to get them to work together with MCA and to make it a great cricket school/college not only in Negeri Sembilan but in the country as well is in the making. With the signing of the MOU His Royal Highness believes cricket development activities with go on in full force there.

Mr. Mahinda also mentioned that, current national wicket keeper; Shafiq Shariff will be assigned as the coach at KTJ starting next week. MCA will conduct National High Performance programmes using KTJ as a centre and NSCA would be an immediate beneficiary of said signing. Other activities with regards to ground, facilities and events will takes off from time to time. The Principal and the teacher in charge of cricket at KTJ are both pleased and look forward to working closely with MCA. Though they already have a group of students involved in cricket but they believe they can now get a bigger participation.
